Advice Project

26th November 2009

Just to remind everybody that our advice service is still available on Tuesday and Thursday between 11.00 and 12.00 pm with appointments available outside these times if necessary. We offer advice on any subject and especially Benefits Debt and Housing.

Advice service update

25th June 2009

The drop in session is still in operation every Tuesday and Thursday between 11.00 and 12.00.

The service has been successful in several ways, but in particular benefit entitlement, benefit appeals and debt management.

It has been decided that the future of the service will be predominantly advice only with only case work undertaken if it can be done on the day.

We have written to HARC and the Citizens Advice Bureaux requesting a proper referral process.

We will keep our community up to date on this as events unfold, however in short we are very optimistic for the future of our “in house” advice service.

In the meantime please visit our  service if you have any concerns on any advice related subject.

Thank You

John Sydes

Project adviser

Money Matters Project Update

26th January 2009

Money Matters Project update 20th January 2009

The Money Matters Project has now been up and running for several weeks, with the new drop in service due to start next Tuesday 27th Jan at 11.00 at Carisbrooke House (all welcome).

John Sydes the project worker has over 8 years advice giving experience with specialist knowledge of all the main issues the project covers.

Our aim is to promote a greater awareness of how to earn, spend, save, budget, lend, and deal intelligently with all matters of personal and collective finance.

By doing this it is hoped we can gain a greater control over our Financial wellbeing, being in control of events rather that event being in control of us.

This is just a reminder of some of the issues we can help with.

  • Benefit awareness
  • Debt problems
  • Budgeting
  • Awareness of how mental health issues effect ones ability to deal effectively with financial matters.
  • Housing Rent or Mortgage arrears
